LOCATION
Grows as a  lithophyte or as a terrestrial in deep leaf  litter over rocky soil on steep slopes at elevations of 1200-1500 m in Burma and China.

 PLANT DESCRIPTION
Bluish green tessellated leaves are heavily pigmented with purple underneath. Leaf dimensions are 12.5 to 17.5 cm in length and 3.5 - 5.5 cm in width.

FLOWER DESCRIPTION
INFLORESCENCE
A solitary flower on a peduncle up to 20 cm.
DORSAL SEPAL
Ovate and acute, white veined with green.
VENTRAL SEPAL
Similar but proportionally smaller.
PETALS
Oblanceolate petals are held at a pendulous angle. Pale green marked with darker green veins and heavily spotted with maroon. Rich suffusion of maroon to chocolate brown cover much of the surface of petals. Margins are hirsute.
LABELLUM
Lip is green,  flushed with mahogany and finely spotted with brownish maroon.

FLOWERING SEASON
Winter.

LOCATION
Roots in a light, fibrous soil or in moss clinging to steep slopes at 900-1800 m in the Solomons/Bougainville..

PLANT DESCRIPTION
Leaves are 12-25 cm in length and 3.5 cm wide. Tessellations on the upper surface and devoid of purple underneath.

FLOWER DESCRIPTION
INFLORESCENCE
Solitary flower on a peduncle up to 35 cm.
DORSAL SEPAL
The broadly ovate dorsal is concave with an acute apex. It is green, margined with cream, flushed basally with dull purple and striped with green.
VENTRAL SEPAL
Ovate and green in colour.
PETALS
Oblongate and held just below horizontal. Purple above and brownish maroon below the proximal third is somewhat greenish below the midline. No spotting. Superior margins is undulate with both margins bearing cilia.
LABELLUM
Chestnut or coppery brown.

FLOWERING SEASON
Spring and early Summer.
