                                ‘Perfection’ has also been awarded a FCC/AOS.  When awarded it had an

                                overall width of 29.3cm and a dorsal sepal of 6.2cm.  Four flowers on a raceme.

                                Its parents are ‘Val’ and ‘Mont Millais’.  ‘Giant Wings’ is smaller cultivar

                                from same parents.  Two of the best rothschildianums in the world have been

                                combined here.

                                Two of the world’s best rothschildianum combined.

                                and is ‘Rex’ crossed with ‘Mont Millais’.  Dorsal sepal was 4.5cm when awarded

                                with a natural spread of 29cm.  Adding more ‘Mont Millais’ can darken the colour

                                and improve flower size.

                                ‘Hi’ has mahogany petals and labellum with lots of red on a white back-

                                ground dorsal.  Captain Cook ‘Papa Aroha’ has reddish mahogany petals

                                and  labellum.  Labellum is spotted and striped in brown.

Ezi 819                 (Sparkling Wine x Kimberley Szabo) 'Shiraz' x Burpham 'Penn Valley'                              C                $20.00

                                Burpham ‘Penn Valley’ has very broad petals that are a mahogany red

                                colour.  The white dorsal is heavily spotted in red which coalesce becoming

                                more solid in the centre.  Labellum is mahogany.  ‘Shiraz’ is of similar colour

                                but the spotting in the dorsal is more dense and therefore more solid red in

                                the centre.  Results will be spotted and red standard types.

 

YS 5482                Sparsholt 'Telstar' x Wild Wood 'Ocelot'                                                                                      D                $25.00

                                Sparsholt has been widely used as a parent.  It is in the background of over

                                600 progeny.  A spotted standard type Paph.  Wild Wood is a cross of

                                Woodruff x Sparsholt.  Also a spotted type, 75% of the genes are from Sparsholt

                                in this cross.  Expect spotted standard type.

                                Sparsholt x Grandblend registered as Lion King.                                                                                            $25.00

                                ‘Spotted Cat’ has a white dorsal with a small green centre and is covered with

                                large, bold black spots.  Petals are green with a bronze overlay from half way                           

                                to the tips.  The beginning of the petals are also spotted \.  Labellum is mainly

                                brown.    ‘Future World’ is also a spotted standard type with more green in the

                                dorsal.  Expect bold spotted standard types.

                                An easy to grow species that can tolerate the cold.  Have also seen plants

                                Suzie Del has broad petals and big bold spots on the dorsal which is mostly

                                = Leopard Spots ‘Coro’ x Den En ‘#1’

                                ‘Coro’ is a round shaped standard type with very bold black spots covering

                                the nearly white dorsal all over except the centre which is a green.

                                Petals are green/yellow with a brown overlay and also covered with bold

                                spots all over.  Crossed with another good shaped spotted type.  Expect good

                                spotted standards with some having spots on the petals.

                                Registered as Waitaki River.

                                Both parents are spotted with bold spots and also have the spotting on the petals.

                                Shape is great for both parents.  Great potential for spots all over.
