Hazel Fay 'Orange Glow' x (Justa Kiwi Girl x Alexandra Beauty) 'Reg's Pride'

A,B

704

This is the cross for the next generation of showbench, orange standards. I was lucky to get some pollen from Ray Maissey's plant of 'Reg's Pride'. 'Reg's Pride' is also a stunning orchid being a yellow overlaid with red and a labellum nearly covered all over with red. August / September flowering.

Hazel Fay 'Outback'

Outback' is a small standard but one of the most orange, small standard, cymbidiums to have been cloned so far. Also has a red barred labellum. Flowers in July /August.

A difficult colour to describe. Mixtures of orange and bronze, fading in the centre of the segment. Big red, banded labellum. Small standard in size. Good form. August flowering.

HOT 'CARAMEL TOFFEE' x HUCKLEBERRY 'TERRIFIC'

C,D

708

Have flowered some plants from this cross. Small standards have been seen. Colours range from off white to a yellow. Labellums are broad and well displayed. They have a red edge with most of the labellum being white. Segments are broad. . Downfall is the slight under turning of the labellum. August flowering.

Hot And Cold 'Looking Forward' x Darch Doctor 'Welcome'

A

709

The Hot and Cold cross has produced many new, novelty types for colour. 'Looking Forward' has a stunning labellum being nearly red all over, except the centre. It has some peppering of spots making up lines on the rest of the flower with the red colour deepening towards the centre of the segments especially on the sepals. 'Welcome' is a "streaky" deep pink, small standard with a red banded labellum. Hoping to break the weak, deep pink colour up into big spots over the flower in the progeny. August flowering.

HOT 'N' SPICY 'GALAXY' AD/ACS x CHRISTOPHER 'ORCHID MAGIC' AD/AOC

B,C,D

Looking forward to seeing the progeny. There should be lots of spots on the flowers from this cross. I have seen ' Orchid Magic's' colour been broken up to spots in other crosses. Intermediates in the yellow to brown shades with spots and red barred labellums are expected. July / August flowering.

HOT 'N' SPICY 'GALAXY' AD/ACS x PINK CHAMPAGNE 'FEATHERHILL'

A,B,C

713

Another novelty type cross for spotted types but this one should produce progeny with good shape. Not sure what background colour will predominate or whether they will blend. 'Galaxy' has a background of yellow and 'Featherhill' is pink. Lots of spots on standard flowers for July / August.

This cross has been registered as Darch Spots. A novelty cross for those that like the bizarre type flowers. Lots of spots and bars. Standard, open shaped flowers on tall racemes with many flowers. Recommended for those after novelty types. August flowering.

HUCKLEBERRY 'TERRIFIC' x ALBERT BROWN 'GOLDEN GLOW'

A,B,C,D

715

This cross has produced some interesting outcomes. All the progeny I have seen have a broad, well displayed labellum. Colours of the flowers have been various shades of yellow with some having a red overlay. The red in the labellum has varied from a red band to one that flowered nearly as a concolour with no red at all being mainly white. Expect small standard, yellows for August.

HUCKLEBERRY 'TERRIFIC' x CAMARO 'ANDY'

A,B,C,D

716

Camaro has genes from Camas Meadows and Wallara. In the background of Camas Meadows are genes from Cariga. Two famous parents for yellow, standard progeny. Outcome should be small standard, yellows with red edging in the labellum. August flowering.

HUCKLEBERRY 'TERRIFIC' x CORA PADDISON 'BRIGHT SPARK'

A,B,C

717

I have combined 'Bright Spark' with 'Terrific' because both have large labellums in proportion to the flower. Cora Paddison has parents of Coraki and Claudona. The large labellum is coming from the Claudona side. Small standards are expected with yellow colour being predominate. Some could be a combination of colours with yellow. Large labellums, banded  red also expected. August flowering.

HUCKLEBERRY 'TERRIFIC' x (FITZGERALD GLADE x TRINITY HALL) 'YELLOW BALL'

B,C,D

714

Terrific' has a large, broad labellum compared to the size of the flower. This is the reason I use it in hybridising. Its colour being yellow is not strong. It has been crossed with 'Yellow Ball' to intensify the yellow in the progeny. August flowering, small standards with good size labellums expected.

HUNGARIAN RHAPSODY 'GEYSERLAND' x DOLLY 'FEATHERHILL' 4N

C

718

Dolly adds genes for vigour and productivity to its progeny. It is a pure colour green, small in size and lacks shape. Hoping the Hungarian Rhapsody will correct these faults to produce productive, upright racemes, with many flowers of intermediate white with some having a red edge in the labellum. July / August.

ICEBURG 'DAINTY LADY' x CLARISSE AUSTIN 'CAPE KIDNAPPERS'

B,C

751

Clarisse Austin is a cross of Tapestry and Rincon. A red standard with a red barred labellum. There is a chance that by combining Iceberg, a white with a pink overlay, that some of the progeny may be spotted. Predominate colour will be pink with a red barred labellum and flower shape should also be good. Expect small standards and intermediates in July / August.

ICEBURG 'FROSTY MORN' x (PARISH DRAGON x MAGIC ELF) 'SWEET SUGAR'

A,B,C

It is a shame that 'Sweet Sugar' has been lost. It was an orchid that had the potential of being awarded and also cloned. A white intermediate with very good shape and a red spotted labellum. Iceberg 'Frosty Morn' is also a white intermediate with little colour in the labellum but also has good shape. Expect good shaped white intermediates with attractive labellums for July / August.
